This site is divided by the version of Joomla and we cover versions 1.5 and 1.6.  Much material is applicable to both versions.

Joomla version 1.5 development

The Joomla 1.5 section includes information for developers and designers alike.  It includes an excellent multi-part tutorial on how the Joomla 1.5 templating system works from a developer's perspective.  It also includes many individual tutorials on various parts of Joomla's framework API and many of these tutorials are equally applicable for Joomla 1.6.

Joomla version 1.6 development

This section is a premier resource for developers to learn the art of Joomla 1.6/1.7 development via structured video teaching lessons. It currently provides over an hour of video teaching covering the basics of component design and Joomla 1.6/1.7's Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture.  

All video has been recorded in high quality HD 720P (up to lesson 2.21) or 1024x768 (lesson 2.22 on, especially for the iPad) format and full transcripts are provided so that you can review at your leisure, or use a translation service to assist with your understanding of the teaching material.

This section is an excellent resource for beginners and experienced developers alike as it covers much of the theory behind why Joomla does what it does.  In addition, it will also give you a better understanding of Joomla 1.5 if you are developing for that version.
